Launch of ATEC 2016 proves to be a great success

TechEd Marketing are proud to have worked in partnership with Archent Consultancy to put together the first ATEC conference at the Jurys Inn Hotel in Oxford on Tuesday 17th May 2016.

Reeza Awoodun of TechEd Marketing and Anthony Ruck of Archent Consultancy, created the concept for ATEC after identifying an opportunity for an assistive technology event that combined both a conference and an exhibition whilst also having an emphasis on CPD. The idea was to be able to showcase best practice in assistive technology, focusing on demonstrating good examples of assistive technology usage to both post-16 education practitioners and representatives from the workplace.

The concept was well received and supported by highly respected organisations such as ADSHE, BDA, BDF and ASASA, as well as leading assistive technology partners.

Following months of planning, we were thrilled that ATEC was a sold out event, delivering an engaging conference and exhibition to a wide range of delegates from both the higher education and workplace sectors. This inaugural event was sponsored by Barclays and brought together 26 exhibitors from the world of assistive technology along with a range of interesting and inspiring keynote speakers.

Antony Ruck, Chair of the British Assistive Technology Association with over 17 years’ experience in shaping the development, implementation and support of AT opened the conference.  Paul Smyth from Barclays gave an inspiring keynote presentation to what was an audience of more than 200 people, showcasing the work Barclays are doing to be more accessible.  Stuart Edwards from the Department of Work and Pensions gave an informative talk about the Access to Work scheme and Debra Charles from Novacroft rounded off the keynote speeches with a personal account of living with dyslexia and achieving great things.

The day proved a great success and we’re really pleased with the feedback.
